Hebra Arquitectos has completed an elevated wheelchair-accessible, wood-and-glass cabin in Chile.

Nestled in a wooded site near Ranco Lake in southern Chile's Los Rios region, the cabin named Quilanto House serves as a nature retreat for a mother and her adult daughter with reduced mobility.

The Chilean studio prioritised minimising disruption to the site and maintaining the forest as the focal point. The single-storey dwelling features cypress cladding, large glass sections, and a gabled metal-covered roof lifted above the ground by steel pilotis.

Inside, the fluid layout accommodates a wheelchair, offering a simple, open atmosphere with visible plywood walls and ceilings and polished concrete flooring.

This project has been longlisted in the rural house category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
