C733 has developed the Ecoparque Bacalar in Bacalar, Mexico.

The Bacalar Lagoon, home to the world's largest freshwater bacterial reef, faces threats from urbanisation and human activity.

This project's main strategy is to minimise the impact of human activity by reducing the program, acting with precision, and treading lightly on the rich flora and fauna.

The centrepiece is an 800-metre pier with varying heights to avoid disturbing the mangroves and serve as a platform for visitors to glide over the lagoon.

The landscape strategy mitigates water pollution through natural filters, rain gardens, and the rehabilitation of degraded mangroves, while a museum exhibit raises awareness of the area's unique biodiversity.

This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure and transport project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
