Winner: Health and wellbeing interior of the year 2023. Studio Author has developed the high-end dental practice Paste in Toronto, Canada.

This project is a boutique, high-tech dental practice with a luxury, hospitality-inspired approach to wellness in close proximity to Toronto's vibrant fashion and entertainment districts.

Referencing the neighbourhood's many luxury hotel lounges, the rich finishes and thoughtful space planning creates an immersive environment, which separates the patient from both the clinical experience and the bustle of the city.

The unexpected palette of warm burl-woods, mixed coloured marbles and plush mohair lobby walls, differentiate Paste and ensure the environment felt immersive and welcoming.

Design elements conceal the dental equipment, disconnecting the patient from any anxiety and making them feel comfortable and positively pampered.

Judges comments: "This high-tech dental practice changes the everyday perception of a healthcare space. The studio took a risk and proved that you can make healthcare warmer and welcoming, and put patients at ease."
