IMO Architecture + Design and JC Cheng & Associates have designed the Taipei Weather Station, a meteorological instrument calibration centre in Taipei, Taiwan.
The design of the Taipei Weather Station is a manifestation of the environment it inhabits and seeks to observe, going beyond adaptation to form an ongoing dialogue with nature.
Movable fins respond to wind currents; rain threads across their undulating Corten surfaces, expressing the force of the elements.
As the sun wanes, filtered light and shadow dance across the building's wind-shaped form. The whole building reflects a belief that architecture can inspire creativity, support mental health and foster well-being.
This project has been longlisted in the civic project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
