Benthem Crouwel Architects has designed Lighthouse, a transformed office building at the heart of District West's redevelopment in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Lighthouse, developed for APF International B.V., is the first completed building in the redevelopment of Amsterdam Sloterdijk, marking the first phase of District West's transformation.
Designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects, this project expands an existing high-rise into a modern 15,700 square metre office with a striking entrance and four additional floors.
The design blends industrial robustness with a light-filled atrium and a sculptural staircase, a wooden structure that enhances sustainability and a welcoming atmosphere.
Aiming for zero carbon emissions, the building features reusable materials, a thermal energy storage installation and green roofs, defining District West's evolution into a vibrant, sustainable urban hub.
This project has been longlisted in the workplace project (large) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
