STAR (Strategies + Architecture) and BOARD (Bureau of Architecture, Research and Design) have designed the interiors of The Cabanon, a fully equipped micro apartment with a spa in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Cabanon is a fully equipped apartment of 6.89 square metres, including two infrared saunas and a whirlpool bath.
"It comprises four distinct spaces and is most likely the smallest apartment in the world," said STAR.
The Cabanon, named after the eponymous Le Corbusier's cabin, is the conversion of an existing attic storage into a living unit, organised into four spaces, extravagantly different in materials and heights.
"The Cabanon is a temple in the proportions of its owners, who saw personal growth in voluntary reduction," added STAR.
"However, this reduction was never understood as austerity. The Cabanon is of the most luxurious smallness, an epicurean reduction."
This project has been longlisted in the residential interior (small) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
