Canter and Gallop Design has designed the interiors of A Bamboo Sanctuary, a home residence in Hong Kong.
Inspired by a family trip to Kyoto, this residence has been re-imagined as a serene sanctuary amidst bamboo trees that embodies the Eastern philosophy of mindfulness and simplicity.
Perched on a cliffside with sweeping ocean views, this residence is inspired by Kyoto's serene forests and reimagined as a tranquil retreat.
Upon entering, a hand-glazed green ceramic shoe cabinet greets visitors, reminiscent of bamboo leaves and seamlessly extending into the heart of the cabin, where wooden vertical struts along the display cabinetry.
Mimicking the gentle arch of bamboo canes, the curved wooden roof fosters a sense of enclosure and protection.
As a result, this tactile sanctuary invites moments of contemplation, offering its inhabitants a deeper connection to nature and inner harmony.
This project has been longlisted in the residential interior (small) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
