WOW Architects | Warner Wong Design has designed the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, Singapore's first super-low energy hotel, setting new benchmarks in tropical sustainability in Singapore.
Mandai Rainforest Resort was conceived through a government-initiated competition; the winning design proposed a regenerative resort, sensitively inserted into Singapore's nature reserve around the Mandai Wildlife Park.
The architecture not only blends into the forest, but enhances it. By inverting the traditional Zoo paradigm, which separates guests from nature and wildlife, the resort reimagines this relationship: humans become part of the jungle ecosystem, learning to coexist harmoniously with native flora and fauna.
This project sets a new precedent for biophilic, regenerative design – an eco-resort that disappears into nature while cultivating awareness, stewardship and deep connection with the living world.
This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
