Offhand Practice has designed the interiors for the Aesop Suzhou Cangjie, a store that blends ancient charm and modern design in Suzhou City, China.

Aesop Suzhou Cangjie is a unique retail space that occupies a restored Qing Dynasty courtyard in a historic district, where the design reimagines traditional architecture, integrating modern functionality with Aesop's brand identity.

The store features a central hall for interaction, surrounded by private rooms, all adorned with silk, stone and copper elements.

Traditional Suzhou materials and craftsmanship were used, creating a connection to local heritage; a silk lantern with embroidery and a fragrance armoire evoke the region's cultural richness.

This project offers a tranquil sanctuary in the city, reinterpreting Jiangnan traditions for a sustainable experience.

This project has been longlisted in the retail interior (small) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
