Alex Chinneck has designed the First Kiss at Last Light installation, a family of cast steel, sculptural street lamps, tied in bows and knots.
Practical as well as sculptural, this family of steel street lamps by Alex Chinneck represents the artist's first venture into functional design.
Conceived as uplifting additions to the public realm that feel at home in most settings, the lamps are an ongoing series whose design and configuration can be adapted to each new location.
The first pair in the series appear to have been tied in a large bow, while a second pair wrap closely around each other as if held in an embrace.
In addition, straight lamp posts in the same design serve to root the scene in reality.
This project has been longlisted in the architectural lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
