Aga Blonska Studio has designed New Dawn, a biodegradable, 3D-printed lighting sculpture made from bacteria, inspired by fermentation and symbolising the natural cycle of life.
New Dawn is inspired by fermentation as a new energy and life source, where in nature, the remains of a final meal provide sustenance for microorganisms, which enrich the soil or produce new materials like PHA.
This lighting piece symbolises the cycle of life and reuse, challenging viewers to reconsider their relationship with natural processes.
"The project reflects on the saying, 'Nothing in nature dies, what remains after one life nourishes another,'" said Aga Blonska Studio.
In this context, New Dawn poses a thought-provoking question: "Who is the Last Supper truly for, humankind, or the nature that patiently receives what we leave behind?"
This project has been longlisted in the bespoke design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
