Studio Johnston has transformed the kitchen interiors of Balmain East House into a vibrant family space in Balmain East, Australia.

At the heart of Balmain East House is a kitchen designed as a tactile, sculptural centrepiece – a richly layered space where materiality and connection converge.

Timber-lined ceilings wrap the room in warmth, while forest green marble and olive joinery ground the space in landscape.

Thoughtfully resolved in plan and palette, the kitchen integrates seamlessly with an adjacent banquette, sculptural bar and floor-to-ceiling harbour views.

Carefully detailed, the space supports both everyday ritual and elevated entertaining – generous in form and precise in function, this kitchen becomes the hub of the home.

This project has been longlisted in the kitchen interior category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
