Siri Svedborg and Adrian Bursell have designed Crayon Pine, a series of pine furniture pieces surfaced in wax crayon.
Crayon Pine is a self-initiated project created for audiences interested in material expression and craft; each object is handcrafted in Stockholm by the designers using solid, locally sourced Swedish pine.
This project also explores the intersection of craftsmanship, drawing and surface treatment through the direct application of wax crayon on pine furniture.
"Using simple gestures and rhythmic lines, we created decorative surfaces where the movement of the hand becomes visible," said Siri Svedborg.
The result is a series of objects that are both playful and precise, referencing traditional Swedish allmoge painting while embracing a contemporary, tactile aesthetic.
This project has been shortlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
