BPI has designed the lighting for Hangzhou Prism, a mixed-use complex that integrates new media art with lighting to create prismatic light effects.
The Hangzhou Prism's lighting design employs pure white illumination to accentuate the building's terraced geometry, generating prismatic refraction patterns that establish a futuristic landmark.
Through the integration of new media art and lighting design, the dynamic light mirrors the pulse of the city, employing pure white light to generate geometric light sequences through simulated prismatic refraction, establishing a pure futuristic landmark in the over-lit surroundings.
In the atrium, the flashing of optical fibres and the rendering of blue floodlights create a night sky jewelled with stars for residents in the over-illuminated city.
This project has been shortlisted in the architectural lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
