Stefan Diez has designed Boss, a refined aluminium recycling bin, for Hydro's R100 exhibition, showcased at Milan Design Week 2025, crafted entirely from locally sourced post-consumer aluminium.

Boss is a recycling bin designed by Stefan Diez for Hydro's R100 project, which challenged designers to work exclusively with recycled aluminium.

Boss is made from Hydro Circal 100R, 100 per cent recycled post-consumer aluminium and the entire production process took place within a 100-kilometre radius in the Netherlands and Belgium, reducing transportation emissions and ensuring full material traceability.

The design uses a single extruded aluminium profile, minimally finished and anodised for durability.

With its clear form and visible structure, Boss brings recycling into view and demonstrates how everyday objects can be reimagined through sustainable materials and efficient, local manufacturing.

This project has been shortlisted in the product design (consumer design) category of Dezeen Awards 2025.
