Shortlisted for Dezeen Awards 2025 designer of the year, Iris van Herpen is a Dutch fashion designer who runs her practice in Amsterdam.

Since founding her studio in 2007, van Herpen has developed a distinctive approach that merges traditional craftsmanship with emerging technologies.

Her work draws upon disciplines including art, science, dance and architecture, and often focuses on invisible forces such as sound waves, neural activity and biological symbiosis.

She recently created a dress made from 125 million bioluminescent algae and designed a shimmering car for Rolls-Royce.
