Winner: Textile design of the year 2025. Luis Marie has designed Plissade, the first-ever all-textile room divider.
Plissade is a sculptural all-textile room divider that draws on a reinterpretation of the traditional craft of textile-pleating.
This partition introduces a contemporary take on a bygone piece of furniture and redefines acoustic partitions by turning fully recycled fabric into a piece that's equally sculptural, functional and radically sustainable.
Its innovative and novel folding technique enables the textile to stand without additional support, thanks to binder and adhesive-free stiffening techniques.
The product is completely made of recycled material; it can be fully disassembled, combining versatility with modern aesthetics.
As a result, Plissade transforms a traditional textile craft into a sculptural and architectural element.
Judges comments: "We were intrigued by the technique used to create this self-supporting yet flexible textile screen. The resulting design is strikingly graphic and packed with colour and would work well in many modern spaces."
