Over on Dezeen Wire, critic Alice Rawsthorn analyses how attitudes to the Olympic logo (above) have evolved in the five years since its launch horrified the design community and public alike, while Zaha Hadid defends her design for the Aquatics Centre (below) as it emerged 600 tickets have been sold to spectators who were unaware they'll have a restricted view.

In other news, the state of Qatar has been accused of “counterfeiting 1000 street lamps” (below), fashion designer Pierre Cardin unveiled designs for a skyscraper in Venice that will be more than twice the height of the bell tower of St. Mark’s Basilica and the RIBA announced their shortlist for the best UK building completed in the last year, swiftly followed by Building Design's shortlist for the worst.
