Studio RE+N has designed the Floating Pavilion in Zhejiang, China.

At 500 metres elevation, tea terraces cascade toward the horizon where the Floating Pavilion sits at the summit — a slender white form that appears lifted by wind rather than placed by construction.

The pavilion's composite steel roof spans seven metres in a depth of just 150 millimetres, tapering to a blade-thin edge against the sky.

"Granite steps follow centuries-old tea-picking paths upward as the pavilion appears and vanishes through terrain folds," said Studio RE+N.

Inside, stepped platforms descend with the slope, gradually releasing a full valley panorama.
