Masaya Kawamoto Design has designed the Press Furniture Series (PFS).

This collectable series explores the design potential of compressing stainless-steel pipes.

While round pipes are typically used as structural elements in furniture, this project treats flattening as a deliberate design gesture, transforming cylindrical forms into structural surfaces that define both function and identity.

The Press Furniture Series spans furniture and objects of different scales, including chairs, tables, lighting and small objects, forming a unified design language.

Surface finishes combine mirror polishing with an experimental salt bath colouring process that creates oxide layers on stainless steel, producing subtle hues and unique patterns without pigments or coatings.
