Taylor and Hinds Architects, with the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania, have designed The Ablutions at Wybalenna in Flinders Island, Tasmania, Australia.

From 1833 to 1847, Wybalenna operated as an open-air concentration camp for hundreds of Aboriginal men, women and children.

Reckoning with this difficulty, in 2023 the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania initiated 'Truth-telling at Wybalenna', which sought to increase awareness, remediation and care for the spirits of the Old People buried there.

Today, the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania has prioritised Aboriginal communal amenity at Wybalenna, where a small Ablutions pavilion is the first new structure at Wybalenna in over a century.

The result is a prosaic structure that is an architectural manifestation of truth-telling at one of the most sacred sites for Palawa.
