Architecture for London and Hamish Vincent Design have renovated Islington House in London, United Kingdom.

This house extension and refurbishment in Islington features an elegant arched garden door and a striking cantilevered stair that builds upon the Georgian revival style of the original 1950s property.

The reconfiguration enhances natural light, improves circulation and strengthens the connection between the interiors and the rear garden, resulting in a bright, modern family home.

"At the heart of the project is a bespoke staircase with Douglas fir treads and refined stone detailing," said Architecture for London.

"By repositioning the staircase, we created a generous double-height entrance, creating a dramatic sense of arrival and a visual link between the ground, first and second floors."
