OODA has rehabilitated and redesigned the Canning Factory in Matosinhos, Portugal.

This rehabilitation project of the former Brandão & Companhia canning factory in Matosinhos, part of Álvaro Siza's urban plan, restores its industrial identity.

Through the preservation of the chimney and reconstructed facades, a mixed-use program with housing, services, offices and public space is introduced.

The Canning Factory project reconfigures the original volume into articulated blocks with courtyards and green areas, improving light, ventilation and urban permeability.

In addition, material choices and an integrated artwork reinforce the site's memory, ensuring long-term adaptability, spatial clarity and continuity between heritage and contemporary urban life.
