Ribas & Ribas Arquitectos has designed La Querola in Ordino, Andorra.

La Querola proposes an architecture radically bound to its place. Located in the valley of Ordino, Andorra, the building is not presented as an autonomous object but rather emerges as a natural extension of the landscape.

The silhouette evokes a stratified, eroded rock – 'Quer' translates as a Catalan word for 'large stone' – and its form, materiality and implantation derive directly from the topography.

The duplex and triplex dwellings are organised according to the logic of the terrain, oriented by topographic conditions and visual relationships with the valley.

"The local slate skin binds the building to the memory of its place," said Ribas & Ribas.
