Panlong Tiandi renews an ancient 700-year-old Jiangnan water-town village in Shanghai as a contemporary public landscape.

The 55-hectare, landscape-led master plan preserves the historic core while transforming a former highway setback into a 22-hectare park that reconnects canals, bridges, lanes, courtyards, neighbourhoods and transit.

In this project, restored waterways, adaptive reuse, shaded walks, pocket gardens, wetlands and public programs turn heritage into everyday civic life rather than a preserved image.

Rooted in water-town memory and designed for contemporary use, Panlong Tiandi unites culture, ecology and public space as a living urban retreat.
