DDON Planning & Design has designed Phase 1 of the Shipyard 1914 Heritage Park in Guangzhou, China.

Faced with the renewal of grand urban industrial heritage, the old Guangzhou Shipyard abandons blind demolition and static preservation.

Trapped by physical relics, value transformation and homogeneous renovation, this project adopts the strategy of ultimate preservation and top-level intervention.

The shipyard retains original industrial texture and profound site spirit and introduces Kengo Kuma-designed cultural architecture.

This project connects shipping history, riverside scenery and contemporary urban life, inheriting the industrial context and activating public vitality, turning the century-old shipyard into a distinctive riverside cultural landmark.
