Anttinen Oiva Architects has designed the new Lagmansgården Reform School in Jakobstad, Finland.
The newly designed Lagmansgården Reform School is located in a scenic pine forest on Finland’s west coast.
Designed to provide a safe, homelike and therapeutic environment for children and young people in need of intensive foster care and special-needs education, the facility combines residential functions with shared learning, recreational and administrative spaces.
Emphasising resilience, local materials and low-carbon solutions, the timber-built complex features compact and flexible architecture rooted in the simple building traditions of Ostrobothnia.
The layout centres a sheltered courtyard opening towards the lakeside, encouraging outdoor activity and a closer connection with nature.
