Studio Lagom has designed the House of Memories in Valsad, India.
The House of Memories reimagines a family's 22-room ancestral home as a contextual, inclusive residence with workspace.
Conceived by Studio Lagom, the load-bearing brick structure celebrates an existing well and unfolds around a lotus courtyard in a C-shaped plan.
Emphasising inside-outside living, rooms open to gardens, terraces and skylit courts – while salvaged wood, reclaimed shutters, exposed brick, Kota stone and concrete create an honest material palette.
As a result, sustainable strategies – solar energy, rainwater harvesting and adaptive reuse – merge heritage, artistry and modern functionality into a deeply personal, biophilic sanctuary.
