Bureau Tempo and Thom Fougere have designed the interiors of Pine Island Cottage in Ontario, Canada.

This serene family getaway unfolds as a series of gathering spaces that gently cascade along the island's sloped bedrock formations.

Designed in close dialogue with the family over four years, Pine Island Cottage reflects how they live – a place to retreat and reconnect with nature.

"The clients were fundamentally interested in engaging with the site and were open to experimenting with how a family might live within this wild Canadian landscape as opposed to the city," said Bureau Tempo.

This project also considers inclusivity through its emphasis on clarity, accessibility, and comfort in daily use. Spaces are designed to be intuitive and adaptable, supporting a range of occupants over time.
