WXY Architecture and Heneghan Peng Architects have designed the Storm King Art Center in New York, United States.

Storm King Art Center's first major capital project, co-led by WXY and Heneghan Peng, enhances arrival, expands outdoor exhibition space and introduces a state-of-the-art conservation and fabrication facility in New Windsor.

A rethought arrival sequence gathers all visitors in an outdoor lobby, a threshold that transitions between the outside world and the museum.

Consolidating parking eliminates vehicles within the art centre and reclaims five acres of former parking lots.

Centred on building only what's necessary, the radically reduced built footprint not only uses fewer resources, but also ensures that the built environment remains secondary to the experience of art in nature.
