Studio Rootfull has designed the Swell Light installation.

Studio Rootfull bridges the gap between biology and design by guiding plant roots, as they grow, into intricate, coral-like structures.

Their latest lighting installation, for Irongate's Japanese restaurant, creates a seamless transition between the indoor dining space and the breathtaking vistas of Baja California Sur.

The root structure acts as a natural diffuser and casts a soft illumination that honours the Japanese appreciation for raw materials.

As a result, Swell Lights are a physical record of time and growth, captured in the delicate, fossilised lattice of plant roots.
