RUR Architecture has designed Kaohsiung Port Terminal in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The Kaohsiung Port Terminal is a transformative work of civic infrastructure that celebrates the threshold between city and sea.
By developing a 3D urbanism strategy, this project stacks industrial port functions, a passenger terminal and an elevated public esplanade into a seamless vertical section.
Featuring an innovative structural manifold of trussed lobes and a diagrid tower, the terminal integrates arrivals, departures and port administration under one roof, revitalising the harbour district into a dynamic hub of cultural and commercial interchange.
This polyfunctional approach ensures the site remains a vibrant destination for both travellers and local residents, even during maritime downtime.
