Farshid Moussavi Architecture has designed the Ismaili Center Houston in Texas, United States.

The new Ismaili Center Houston is a civic and cultural centre for the Ismaili Muslim community and the wider public.

Free and open to all, its pluralism is expressed through space: the building is distinguished by its openness and interior-exterior continuity, qualities rooted in the spatial intelligence of Islamic architecture and suited to Houston's climate.

In response to this, three verandahs open the building in all directions – while stone screens modulate light and privacy.

In addition, three atria allow gatherings to spill outdoors, drawing daylight deep into the interior, creating a setting for public life, worship and learning that belongs to everyone.
