Jack Alexander Studio has designed Sediba Sa Rona in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.

Situated along Botswana's Okavango Delta on the Khwai River, Sediba Sa Rona reimagines the historic Khwai River Lodge through contemporary adaptive reuse.

Translating as 'our source of water', Sediba Sa Rona preserves the site's heritage by salvaging timber, gumpoles, teak furniture and thatch from the original 1960s lodge.

The architecture traces the riverbank, strengthening connections between landscape and building through open decks, elevated walkways, shaded communal spaces, and a raised firepit.

Designed with a light environmental footprint, the lodge creates an immersive safari experience rooted in the Delta's ecology, history and seasonal rhythms – while celebrating craftsmanship, continuity, sustainability, place and sensitivity.
