LYYH Studio has designed the Abaya Pavilion in Sharjah, UAE.
The Abaya Pavilion transforms the Islamic abaya into an immersive spatial experience.
Anchored in a 12-point rosette geometry and draped in chiffon, this project celebrates cultural identity, light and movement while providing a serene communal refuge.
The design translates a cultural garment into architecture, redefining how material, movement and identity shape space.
The pavilion integrates Islamic geometric principles with fabric lightness to create dynamic shadow play and adaptivity.
The result is an architecture-as-ritual – an inventive fusion of cultural storytelling, spiritual symbolism and environmental responsiveness through minimal, poetic means.
