Zeitz MOCAA
by Heatherwick Studio

Zeitz MOCAA makes use of a disused grain silo complex in South Africa to house the first major museum dedicated to contemporary art from the continent and its diaspora.

Through the inventive use of concrete-cutting techniques and traditional craftsmanship, the silo has been adapted into a significant new building for a not-for-profit museum institution in Cape Town. The museum’s mission is to provide the public with access to contemporary art. Zeitz MOCAA demonstrates the balance of maintaining the solidity and spirit of the original building with new design and purpose.
