Design firm Atelier Xy has created a secret bar that features an amber insect collection in Shanghai, China.
The result is a dialogue of spatial functions complimenting the operational requirements.
The core of the design is the double-glass brick wall. To blur the visuals between these spaces, the cavity of the wall is illuminated with LED to highlight the texture on the glass bricks.
The design aims to express traditional Shanghai elements in a contemporary manner, such as the timber weave pattern that accentuates the beetles in the communal bar and the high wooden skirting.
