Clovelly Apartment
by James Garvan

Katherine Lu

James Garvan has reconfigured a 1960s apartment to forge a stronger connection with its surrounding landscape.

As a family home, perched on a clifftop, this serene apartment reflects and amplifies the character of its inhabitants and its place.

In the context of contemporary living, the original apartment has been completely reconfigured to better reflect modern priorities and lifestyles.

The studio maximised the efficiency of the floorplan, engaged with the ocean views and have delineated between private and public spaces.

In orienting the consolidated kitchen, dining and living space longitudinally toward the ocean, living spaces are intimately connected with the view and natural light.

This project has been longlisted in the small interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
