Escondido Oaxaca Hotel
by Decada

Undine Prohl

Decada and Carlos Couturier designed the interiors of a small boutique hotel called Escondido Oaxaca Hotel in Mexico.

The firm's aim was to capture a feeling of timelessness, anchored in an authentic nineteenth-century Oaxacan house.

The studio sourced legendary local weavers and ceramists living in nearby villages, shopped at local antique shops, and worked with young Mexican designers and craftsmen, whose clean lines contributed to a sense of serenity, while paying tribute to the brutalist architecture of Alberto Kalach who transformed the old house.

This project has been longlisted in the hotel and short stay interior project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
