Full Metal Jacket
by Vollebak

Sun Lee

The Full Metal Jacket is a jacket built from mostly copper, a naturally conductive element which is self-sterilising, antimicrobial, and kills viruses on its surface.

While every jacket is made from more than 11km of copper, you wouldn't know it just by touching it. The copper is soft and malleable, and the jacket is fleece-lined, making it a perfect everyday technical jacket.

The Full Metal Jacket proves that it's possible to make clothing mostly from copper, and is a pioneering step towards a future of intelligent and disease-resistant clothing.

This project has been longlisted in the wearable design project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
