Maggie's Centre at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton harnesses natural light to promote physical and psychological wellbeing.
The Maggie's centre in Sutton is one of the latest architect-commissioned care centres in the UK, created to offer non-medical support to people with cancer and their families. The centre is set in an idyllic garden designed by landscape architect Piet Oudolf.
The new centre comprises four glass-fronted fanning volumes wrapped in terracotta for its crafted and earthen qualities. Striations on the panels further enable the play of light and shadow across the building’s exterior.
