Longlisted for Dezeen Awards 2020 designer of the year, SPREAD is the creative unit founded by Hirokazu Kobayashi and Haruna Yamada in 2004.
Blending the concepts of landscape design and graphic design, the studio aims to "spread" multidisciplinary creations into the future by dismantling and rebuilding memories revolving around colours.
Notable projects by the studio include its iconic art project named Life Stripe. The artwork uses colour to visualise daily actions over a 24-hour period. The "proof of living" creates beautiful striped patterns. The firm also provide artworks, space design and products to inspire through the user of colour.
SPREAD has been longlisted in the designer of the year category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
