Thames Footbridge Taplow
by Knight Architects

Lance McNulty

Located in a picturesque Buckinghamshire village, Taplow Bridge is one of the newest crossings over the River Thames.

The distinctive 40-metre arch bridge links pedestrians from a new residential development to Ray Mill Island, allowing both riverbanks to be open to all.

Knight Architects worked with engineering partner COWI to develop a solution that suited the natural beauty of the site and contributed to a strong sense of placemaking.

Careful detailing ensures the approach defines the quality and appearance needed to protect and enhance the sensitive character of the site.

This project has been longlisted in the infrastructure project category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
