The Garden Pavilion

Harold De Puymorin

NCDA has designed a VIP lounge in a luxury shopping centre in one of Hong Kong's busiest shopping districts.

The studio challenges the traditional VIP lounge with an abstract echo of nature, inspired by Japanese zen gardens.

The entrance is designed as a serene, sculptural public garden which leads into a private lounge where flowing, sensually curved forms imitate the lines in a sand garden and sinuous walls suggest traditional Venetian plaster.

Curved walls of different heights offer varying degrees of privacy, creating openness in the garden and intimacy in the lounge. Custom marble tables and lighting evoke meticulously placed stones in a temple garden and frame a miniature moss garden at the centre.

This project has been longlisted in the leisure and wellness interior category of Dezeen Awards 2020.
