Winner: Emerging designer of the year 2020. Shahar Livne is a design studio that communicates social, philosophical and ecological issues through its work.
Since its establishment in 2017, Shahar Livne's work has been shown consistently in international museums and major design events, including Milan Design Week, Dutch Design Week, Design Miami/Basel, in the Museum of Design London and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum New York.
The practice is narrative-focused with materials as a central theme. Livne aims to create a critical perspective on the use of materials in design with the goal of understanding and communicating social, philosophical and ecological issues through her work, with a core belief that design should be a transparent and investigative tool.
Judges comments: "This studio stretches the limits with very powerful work. There is a sense of exploration in every project. It's a great example of how design is about designing the future, designing how we live and how we can use our voices to communicate to others that there are alternative ways of thinking. Shahar Livne’s work encompasses all of that."
