Dezeen Awards 2021 judge Aaron Roberts

Aaron Roberts is a co-founder and director of Melbourne based architecture and design practice Edition Office, named emerging architect of the year at Dezeen Awards 2019.

Founded in 2016 by Roberts and Kim Bridgland, the studio has received numerous other awards and was nominated for the Swiss Architectural Award in 2020.

Through the execution of its built work and research, the practice is creating an ongoing series of figures, stories and relationships; all continuing a greater investigation into material spatial and cultural practice. With considered awareness and sensitivity towards the historical and cultural complexity that exists within the project's site, the practice reveals place and landscape as a space of both conflict and connection.

Recent collaborative projects with Indigenous artists include a National memorial to commemorate the service of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women at the Australian War Memorial, and the National Gallery of Victoria’s 2019 Architectural Commission which was awarded Dezeen’s 2020 small building of the year.
