South African fashion designer Lukhanyo Mdingi is founder of Cape Town based fashion label Lukhanyo Mdingi.

Mdingi graduated from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2015. The following year Mdingi, together with select African designers, had the opportunity to showcase at the Pitti Uomo Immagine A/W 17 Collection in Florence.

Having been a participant in the British Fashion Council's international Fashion Showcase, Lukhanyo has continued to use the spirit of meticulous designs in order to intimately work hand in hand with artisans and to enhance each of his creations.

Since its inception in 2015, the eponymous label has attracted the attention for exclusives from Vogue Italia, Nataal and I.D. Furthermore, Lukhanyo Mdingi has  showcased on notable platforms such as the British Fashion Council: International Fashion Showcase, Pitti Uomo Immagine – Generation Africa and the CFDA: New York Fashion Week – Men’s.

The aim of collaborating with artisans and communities is to build a bridge; by bringing their heritage to timeless premium pieces they are also providing a platform to support these artisans and communities, through continuous work and awareness.
