Residential building
by Studio Toggle

Gijo Paul George

Project Jade is a multi-unit residential building in Kuwait implementing green courtyards scattered around the massing, around which the living units are organised to achieve an optimised balance between privacy and openness.

The design explores a new typology by adapting and scaling up the traditional middle-eastern courtyard house concept with mashrabiyas (privacy screens) in a multi-level, multi-unit scenario without compromising on the vernacular's original qualities combating extremes of weather typical in Kuwait.

This project has been longlisted in the housing project category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
