Library in Ruins by Atelier Xi was built next to the remnant of an adobe house in Sunyao, an old and remote village located in the mountains.
Villagers were no longer able to find any craftsmen who could build with the original rammed earth technique. Library in ruins is a new building intertwined with the remainder of the old, allowing visitors to enjoy both whilst admiring the surrounding area.

This project has been longlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
