Gare Maritime by Neutelings Riedijk Architects has been shortlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2021.

The Gare Maritime in Brussels has been transformed into a new city district called "a city where it never rains".
Once Europe's largest freight station, Gare Maritime is now an inspiring spot for companies and shops, combined with an impressive public event space.

Neutelings Riedijk Architects designed this new covered city in wood, making it the largest CLT-project in Europe. It is also state-of-the-art in sustainability, being energy-neutral and fossil-free. By offering plenty of public space and a network of streets, squares, and gardens, interwoven in the existing context, Gare Maritime improves the quality of life in the city.

This project has been shortlisted in the rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
